Bigger AI needs more processing than most phones have. So phones team up and share the work.
short version · Like torrents, but sharing the thinking too: friends' and volunteers' phones help, and the answer comes back to you.
Your phone keeps the first and last layers and chooses every word. The middle is split across 1 helper (3 slices in all), so a bigger model fits.
Torrents, one step further
A torrent spreads copies of a file between people. Hive Connect shares the AI too, then goes further: other phones also do part of the work and send the result back to you.
One reply can run across your phone and up to three helpers, and it comes out the same as on the whole model.
Pair in person
Scan a QR code and confirm the same phrase on both phones.
Helping is optional
Lending is off until someone turns it on, with battery and heat limits.
Run bigger models
Helpers let a phone use a model it could not hold alone.
Stop any time
Remove or block a phone and it stops at once, even mid-reply.
When everything is offline, pass it on.
If access is lost completely, one phone with Hive AI can become many.

Phone to phone, no internet
Share a model with a nearby phone over Bluetooth, local Wi-Fi or a hotspot. Whoever receives it can share it onward, like a mesh.
Every model is checked against its fingerprint on arrival, and an interrupted transfer picks up where it stopped.
The models are open and free to share. The receiving phone needs the ChargeHive EV app.
Questions people ask.
Does Hive AI need the internet?
Only once, to download a model while you are online. After that, replies are written on your phone, even in airplane mode. Optional Internet answers can look up current facts, and they stay off until you turn them on.
Which phones can run it?
Android phones. The smallest model is a 491 MB download for phones with 3 GB of memory. The biggest need about 10 GB. iPhone is not supported yet.
Are my chats private?
Your chats are encrypted on your phone and left out of phone backups. With a paid pass they never leave it. On Free Access, a copy is sent without your account details only if you allow it, and you can stop any time.
What does a helper phone see?
A helper receives encrypted, in-between model data, not a copy of your chat. A helper whose app was tampered with could still work out what you wrote, so choose helpers you trust and keep sensitive questions on your own phone.
Is it always right?
No. Replies are written by a machine and can be wrong or out of date. They are not medical, legal, financial or safety advice. Check anything that matters.
